Are you passionate about contributing to the sustainable development of your home country and region? Are you seeking an international experience? The Swedish Institute is offering academic scholarships for master’s studies to professionals from 41 countries. Take a careful look at the call for applications and start preparing your application today.

The scholarship encompasses a wide range of study fields, covering over 700 of the 1000 English-taught master’s programs in Sweden. Through this fully-funded scholarship, the Swedish Institute aims to create a network of future global leaders who will contribute to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and propel the development of their home countries.


– Full tuition fee coverage, paid directly by SI to your Swedish university at the beginning of each semester.
– A monthly allowance of SEK 12,000 to cover living expenses throughout the study period.
– Insurance against illness and accident.
– A travel grant of SEK 15,000 (*10,000 for scholars from specific countries). This is a one-time payment and does not apply to students already living in Sweden.
– Membership in the SI Network for Future Global Professionals (NFGP) – a platform to aid professional growth and network-building in Sweden.
– After the scholarship period, become a member of the SI Alumni Network for continued networking and professional development.

The scholarship does not:

– Provide additional grants for family members.
– Cover the application fee to University Admissions.
– Allow changes to the study program; support is only for the awarded master’s program.
– Allow extensions or changes to the awarded scholarship period.


– Open for applications once a year for master’s studies starting in the autumn semester.
– Citizenship of one of the 41 eligible countries.
– Application for a master’s program eligible for the SI scholarship.
– Liability to pay tuition fees at University Admissions.
– Demonstrated work experience.
– Demonstrated leadership experience from a current or previous employer or civil society engagement.

Selection Process:

Key dates:
– 16 October – 15 January: Apply to Swedish master’s programs through University Admissions.
– November: SI Scholarship application documents are published.
– 12 – 28 February: Application portal for the SI Scholarship is open.
– 21 March – University admissions announcement day.
– 25 April: SI Scholarship announcement day.
