What the Scholarship Covers
The scholarship provides:
- AUD $39,000 annual stipend
- Tuition fee coverage for up to 3 years of full time study
- Opportunities to apply for an Industry Stream
- Dedicated scholarships for women in STEMM
- Dedicated scholarships for students with disabilities
Any study already completed towards the PhD will be deducted from the scholarship period.
Who Can Apply?
To qualify, you must:
- Have a Bachelor’s degree with First Class Honours or equivalent
- Be eligible to study a PhD full time on campus at UniSQ
- Be an international student
- Not be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident
- Start or continue your PhD studies in 2027
Industry Stream
Students selected for this stream must complete a 60 day industry internship. This is optional You will need to identify an industry partner and submit a Letter of Support from that organisation. Continuing students must also be within:
- 18 months of starting full time study, or
- 36 months of starting part time study
Documents You Need
Prepare digital copies of:
- Statement of Claim completed by you and your supervisor
- CV including research publications and presentations
- Preliminary Research Thesis Topic Proposal
- Proof of citizenship
- Bachelor’s and postgraduate degree certificates
- Academic transcripts
- You will also need a Letter of Support from your industry partner if you selected the optional industry stream.
How to Apply
Step 1: Apply for the PhD
PhD admission is a separate process from the scholarship application. You must begin the PhD admission process to be eligible for the scholarship.
Step 2: Find a suitable research area
Review UniSQ’s flagship research areas and research thesis topics to identify where your proposed research fits. You should discuss the relevant flagship area with your potential supervisor.
Step 3: Prepare your documents
Get your CV, academic records, research proposal and citizenship documents ready.
Step 4: Complete the scholarship application
Submit your scholarship application through the UniSQ Scholarship Application Management System.
Step 5: Submit before the deadline
Make sure your application is submitted by 27 September 2026.
