Senator Olamilekan Adeola, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, has distributed N250 million in grants to approximately 5,000 traders in Ogun West Senatorial District.

Each trader received N50,000 as part of this initiative. Additionally, the senator awarded N100,000 bursaries to 1,000 indigent tertiary institution students, and 600 students received scholarships under his program.

The senator olamilekan yayi scholarship program allocated N200,000 to university students, N175,000 to polytechnic students, and N150,000 to college of education students.

Senator Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, emphasized the importance of contributing to the socioeconomic development of communities and recognized the economic challenges faced by market men and women.

The grants, provided in collaboration with the Nigerian Institute for Oceanography and Marine Research, aim to serve as a micro-financing initiative to boost businesses without burdening beneficiaries with loans.

Senator Adeola highlighted the success of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s “Oko Owo Dapo” program in supporting market men and women, expressing his commitment to providing support to this critical sector.

The Iyaloja General of Ogun State, Mrs. Yemisi Abas, expressed gratitude for the lawmaker’s kind gesture, marking the second year of support for market men and women through the grant program.
