The Acting Vice Chancellor of Trinity University in Yaba, Lagos, Prof. Clement Kolawole, has advocated for the improvement of the educational framework in Nigeria to unlock its full potential.
He made these remarks on Wednesday while discussing the upcoming inaugural convocation ceremony of the university. Prof. Kolawole emphasized that addressing the challenges in the education sector requires collaborative efforts and should encompass private universities, assisting them in fulfilling their objectives.

He highlighted the impact of the high cost of living on the services provided by educational institutions, emphasizing the importance of not leaving private universities to secure funds from banks at exorbitant rates.
Despite these challenges, he expressed pride in Trinity University’s achievement of graduating its first two sets of students and commended the vision and resilience of the institution’s founders. All 16 programs at Trinity University have received full accreditation, and additional programs are being introduced.
As part of the convocation ceremony, business mogul Prince Samuel Adedoyin will be installed as the Chancellor of the institution. Additionally, former Oyo State Governor Chief Abiola Ajimobi’s wife, Florence, will be honored with a doctorate, along with Dr. John Tanimowo Obaro.
Pastor Samuel Olatunji, the Pro-Chancellor, reflected on the growth of the Trinity Group of Schools, which started nearly 30 years ago and has expanded to include a university.
Plans for a permanent site for the institution in the suburbs of Lagos are underway. A Convocation Lecture titled “Disruptive Technology: The Ambiguous Friend?” will be delivered by Prof. Adenike Osofisan, Africa’s first woman professor of Computer Science.
