Issuing a statement, the chairman of the Northern Christian Youth Professionals, Isaac Abrak, urged the Nigerian Army to conduct a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the incident. He stressed the importance of pursuing justice professionally and without causing harm to innocent civilians.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the fallen soldiers, and we stand in solidarity with the Nigerian Army during this period of mourning,” the statement expressed.

“We call for the swift identification and prosecution of those responsible for this atrocious act,” it added.

The statement further emphasized that history has demonstrated that heavy-handed responses can escalate tensions and impede military and public cooperation.

Additionally, the statement called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and state governors to prioritize the revitalization of forest guards to address the issue of criminals hiding in forests.
