Eligibility Criteria

The GoGettaz Agripreneur Prize offers an excellent opportunity for young African agripreneurs to unleash their agribusiness potential. Here’s what we’re looking for:

The Entrepreneur

– Aged 35 or below on the date of submission to the competition and legally recognized as an adult in their country of nationality.

– Holds nationality (with an official ID) from a country that is a member of the African Union.

– Founder/co-founder of the venture they represent in the competition and actively involved in its operations and leadership.

– No criminal record related to corruption, tax evasion, financial impropriety, felony, or other offenses, and willing to provide a signed declaration to that effect if requested.

The Venture

– Already legally registered in a country that is a member of the African Union or will have commenced the registration of such a legal entity before July 1, 2024.

– Headquartered in a country that is a member of the African Union.

– Designed to be financially sustainable, either as a for-profit business or a non-profit generating some revenue and aiming not to be dependent on donor funding.

– Plays a role in the agrifood sector and/or supports the development of the agrifood sector through innovation or process improvement.

The agrifood sector encompasses businesses engaged in various activities such as agrifood research & development, primary food production (farming), food processing, packaging, marketing, digital or technology solutions/services, renewable energy, and more.

The top GoGettaz agripreneurs will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to pitch their businesses at the GoGettaz Finals during the Africa Food Systems Forum Summit. The 2024 AFSF Summit will be held in Kigali, Rwanda, in September.

At the summit, finalists will have the opportunity to participate in the AFSF Agribusiness Dealroom, a premier platform for networking with potential investors, partners, and collaborators.

Top contestants can also apply for the exclusive 6-month GoGettaz Africa Leadership Program, designed to empower emerging leaders with the skills and network necessary for personal and business growth.

Timeline

– Expert jury will review applications submitted from April 8 to June 10, 2024.
– Evaluation criteria include innovation, market potential, inspiring team, business model, and impact.
– The Top 24 semi-finalists will be notified in mid-July and interviewed for further information.
– 12 finalists will be selected by the end of July 2024, with six male and six female finalists notified via WhatsApp and email.
– Finalists will compete on stage at the AFSF Summit in Kigali, Rwanda, in September 2024.
– All 12 finalists will receive mentorship, programming linkages, and guidance to continue their entrepreneurial journey.

Application Form Questions

The application includes questions such as:

– “Give an example of your entrepreneurial mindset.”
– “How does your business generate revenue?”
– “What is your plan for scaling up your business?”
– “Who are your main competitors?”
– “What are your biggest business challenges so far and how have you overcome them?”

Applicants must complete all sections of the application to be considered. Remember, you can save your progress and complete your application in multiple sessions.

Successful applicants will be asked to submit a two-minute pitch video, showcasing why they deserve to advance to the 2024 GoGettaz Agripreneur Prize Competition finals and promoting their company to the GoGettaz audience.
