A private jet with about 10 people on board, including Very Important Personalities (VIPs), crash-landed and overshot the runway at Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The incident occurred on Friday, January 26, 2024, around 11 am. The jet, with registration number N580KR, missed the runway and skidded into the nearby bush.

Firefighters and rescue officials from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) were immediately deployed to the scene. Fortunately, there were no reported deaths or casualties.
A spokesperson for the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Carol Adekotujo, confirmed the incident, stating that it was a private plane from Abuja.
The plane landed safely but overshot the runway. The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has dispatched a team to investigate the incident.
This comes after several reported aviation incidents in recent times, raising concerns in the sector.
In November 2023, a plane carrying the Minister of Power, Mr Adebayo Adelabu, and 12 other passengers crash-landed at the Ibadan airport, with no reported fatalities.
