Oyelade confirmed that numerous victims have already registered at the hub and are undergoing assessment by emergency and disaster experts. Those affected are encouraged to visit the premises of the Oyo State Housing Corporation, Bodija, Ibadan.

The commissioner mentioned that the situation hub is under the leadership of the deputy governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal. He further advised victims to provide verifiable evidence of their losses and seek clarification on the nature of government intervention.

The Commissioner stated that as investigations by security agencies continue, the state government is narrowing down on the possible cause of the explosion.

The commissioner mentioned that, due to new evidence, the government is exploring certain leads that suggest the storage of explosives by illegal crude oil miners residing in the area. During his visit to the scene late Tuesday night, Governor Seyi Makinde urged residents of Oyo State to be more vigilant about activities in their environment.

“If you see something, say something,” the governor emphasized. Oyelade mentioned that the explosion impacted some structures of ministries, departments, and agencies at the state’s secretariat in the Agodi area.

He noted that the impact of the Ibadan explosion was felt about 15 kilometers apart. It is worth recalling that Governor Makinde had last month deployed a massive military presence on land, air, and intelligence to the Oyo National Park to flush out illegal crude oil miners and other criminals.

The commissioner added that residents can contact the situation room at 615 or 09040899710 (for SMS, WhatsApp, and pictorial evidence).
