A total of 2,026 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) from the 2024 batch ‘A’ (stream I) are currently undergoing their 21-day orientation course at the temporary orientation camp, Kurmi Marshi, Kaduna.
Among them, 1,191 are from Kaduna State, while 835 were dislodged from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) due to limited accommodation facilities in the Abuja camp.

The dislodgment of corps members to Kaduna from the FCT was necessary to manage the population and accommodation constraints at the Abuja camp.
This practice is not uncommon, as similar arrangements are made in other states like Lagos, where dislodged corps members camp in nearby states like Oyo, Ogun, and Osun.
Mr. Hassan Mahmud Taura, the NYSC Coordinator in Kaduna State, clarified that the dislodgment doesn’t mean that the camps in FCT and Lagos are not running. After completing the orientation course, those from the FCT will return to Abuja for their primary assignments.
During the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State, represented by the Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development, Hajiya Rabi Salisu, assured the corps members of their welfare and security.
The Governor emphasized the state’s commitment to their well-being and urged them to consider their posting to Kaduna as a rare privilege to experience a different socio-cultural environment. He encouraged them to contribute to the development of the state and the nation as a whole.
The NYSC orientation course is the first of four cardinal objectives of the one-year mandatory national service for young Nigerian graduates. The other objectives include places of primary assignment, community development service, and passing out parades.
