The wwf grants targets teams and institutions operating in Kenya, Tanzania, and Madagascar. Proposals should aim to reach diverse audiences involved in addressing social and environmental issues related to the execution and management of conservation and development initiatives. Special attention should be given to aligning with WWF key goals, including climate, food, forests, freshwater, oceans, and wildlife.
Focus Areas
WWF Grants Proposals should focus on the following areas:
Skills Development: Include practical activities and case studies to address challenges in understanding and mitigating social and environmental impacts of development projects. Emphasize opportunities for inclusive conservation to achieve sustainable development.
Stakeholder Engagement: Involve diverse groups, with a focus on gender mainstreaming and the participation of local and indigenous people and communities.
Professional Networking: Foster networks among individuals and organizations, prioritizing collaboration and information exchange. Proposals strengthening ties with local associations and regional bodies will be given priority.
Institutional Capacity: Strengthen institutions to address governance challenges in conservation, development, and infrastructure projects. Improve expertise and experience for collaborative impact assessment and conservation outcomes, considering cumulative effects and nature-based solutions.
Eligibility
To be considered for a grant, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Legal Registration: The organization must be legally registered in an eligible country (Kenya, Tanzania, and Madagascar).
Track Record: Teams or organizations must have a history of capacity building in environmental and social impacts, applying them to local activities in conservation and development. They should also demonstrate the ability to monitor results.
Submission Requirements: All required documents must be submitted by the application deadline.
Timeline: Grant activities must be completed by August 2025.
Proposal Criteria
Proposals should include active learning, practical skill components, and field-based activities. Priority is given to local organizations addressing development challenges affecting ecosystems and promoting sustainable development and conservation.
COVID-19 Compliance: Organizations must adhere to country-specific COVID-19 regulations in their plans.
WWF Goals
Organizations must commit to supporting work aligned with WWF’s six goals, covering climate, food, forests, freshwater, oceans, and wildlife.
Selection Criteria
Project proposals will undergo a thorough selection process based on the following criteria:
Objectives and Feasibility: The proposed work should demonstrate understanding, feasibility within the work plan, and a realistic budget.
Impact: Consider both short- and long-term impacts on environmental and social sustainability, with a risk assessment and contribution to capacity development and ecological and social outcomes.
Measurability: The initiative should have measurable outcomes and outputs.
Scalability and Transferability: Activities should be scalable to specific contexts and replicable.
Collaborations: Projects enhancing partnerships, clearly outlining each stakeholder’s role in achieving proposed objectives, will be favored.
Funding
Applicants can request up to US$15,000, providing strong justifications in their budget.
