On Monday, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) announced the abandonment of the traditional paper and pencil test model, opting for the Computer-Based Test model for the Senior School Certificate Examination.

The statement, signed by Moyosola Adesina, the acting head of WAEC’s Public Affairs Unit, outlined that this transition would commence with the West African Senior School Certificate Examination for private candidates in February 2024.

“Aligned with international standards, the Nigeria National Office of West African Examinations Council intends to shift its WASSCE for Private Candidates Examination Diets from Paper and Pencil Test to Computer-Based Examination,” the statement highlighted.
