Program Overview
The STARS Fellowship program aims to empower the next generation of researchers in agriculture and rural development. By supporting early-career scholars, the program seeks to generate valuable insights and solutions to global challenges in agriculture, food security, and sustainable development.
Duration: 12 months
Focus Areas: Agricultural productivity, risk management, food security, and gender inclusion.
Benefits and Support
Fellows receive substantial support, including:
- Travel and Participation Funding: This scholarship will Cover expenses to Cornell University for a three-week visit and participation in mentor-led activities.
- Honorarium: A modest financial stipend to support fellows throughout the fellowship year.
- Professional Development: Access to training programs, networking opportunities, and career-building resources.
Eligibility
- Open to Ph.D. students in their final year or individuals who completed their Ph.D. no earlier than 2019.

Fellows can pursue research aligned with one or more of the following key themes:

- Address gender disparities and promote inclusion of marginalized groups.
Application Requirements
Interested candidates must submit the following documents:
- Research Proposal (Max 2,500 words) – A detailed outline of the intended research related to one or more fellowship themes.
- Current CV/Resume – Highlight academic qualifications, research experience, and publications.
- Letter of Support – Endorsement letter from the applicant’s current supervisor.
- Passport Copy – Photocopy of passport biodata page and any current U.S. visa (if applicable).
