Yesterday, the Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) began distributing 80,000 10kg bags of rice to vulnerable people in Lagos state.
Dangote, the President of Dangote Group and Chairman of the foundation, stated during the kickoff event in Alausa that this distribution is part of a larger effort to distribute over one million 10kg bags of rice to one million vulnerable people across the 774 local government areas in Nigeria.

Dangote emphasized that distributing these 80,000 bags of rice is another way the foundation shows its commitment to values like compassion and solidarity, which are essential to humanity.
He also highlighted that this rice distribution complements the daily distribution of 12,500 loaves of bread in Lagos, aiming to alleviate some of the burdens faced by vulnerable communities in the state.
Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu of Lagos State praised Dangote’s various initiatives to alleviate Nigerians’ suffering. He commended Dangote for demonstrating compassion towards the needy in society.
Sanwo-Olu noted that the distribution of 80,000 bags of 10kg reflects the foundation’s priority of prioritizing people’s welfare over profit and wealth accumulation. He expressed gratitude to Dangote for supporting the government and emphasized the importance of such gestures, especially during challenging times globally.
Encouraging other wealthy Nigerians to follow Dangote’s example, the Governor highlighted how this rice distribution would complement the state’s efforts to address economic hardships.
Zouera Youssoufou, the CEO of ADF, mentioned that the Foundation is collaborating with credible NGOs, civil societies, and religious bodies to ensure the donations reach the most vulnerable individuals in Lagos State. She emphasized the Foundation’s vision of empowering Africans to achieve their full potential, regardless of their circumstances.
