The Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education in Kano State has taken steps to combat examination malpractices by installing closed circuit Television (CCTV) cameras in all its examination centers to monitor students during exams.
Professor Yahaya Isa Bunkure, the Vice Chancellor of the State-owned University, made this announcement during the presentation of 90 assorted computers to the institution’s branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

The university reportedly spent N30 million to procure 90 Inter-connected Terabyte Capacity Computers as part of its Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Development Initiative.
The move is aimed at enhancing the institution’s competitiveness with other higher learning institutions. Professor Bunkure emphasized that the funds used for the computer acquisition were sourced from the university’s Revitalization Funds.
He stated, “As a University now, we are upgrading almost everything to fully tally with the University system that would make us one of the best.” The university aims to be fully connected with ICT to enhance its academic standing.
The branch chairman of ASUU, Shittu Sani Gargai, expressed appreciation for the procurement of Smart Boards, Projectors, and other computer accessories.
He highlighted that these resources would contribute to academic excellence and benefit both students and the community at large.
