It was a mixed evening for Ronaldo’s former Manchester United teammate, Diogo Dalot, who scored the opening goal in Lisbon but later accidentally scored an own goal. Despite this, Ronaldo’s decisive strike in the 34th minute ensured Portugal secured all three points in the match held at Benfica’s Estadio da Luz.
After scoring with a volley from Nuno Mendes’ cross, Ronaldo was visibly emotional, dropping to his knees and shedding tears, deeply moved by his monumental achievement.
