A 28-year-old Nigerian woman named Pelumi Nubi has completed a solo road trip from London to Nigeria (Lagos), arriving in the city after more than two months of travel.
Nubi, who works as a travel content creator, reached Lagos around 10 am on Sunday, April 7. She was welcomed at the Seme border into Lagos by prominent officials from the Lagos State government, including the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, and her Special Adviser, Mr. Idris Aregbe, as well as her parents, students from the University of Lagos (UNILAG), and other well-wishers.

Having spent 68 days on her journey, Nubi arrived at the Nigeria-Benin Republic border where she was received by representatives of the Lagos State government.
Expressing gratitude to God for her safe trip, Nubi thanked the state government for the warm welcome. Reflecting on her experiences during the solo trip, she expressed appreciation for the support she received from both God and Nigerians during her live reporting of the journey.
Nubi also shared some of the challenges she faced during the trip, including missing her family and loved ones.
Mrs. Olubukola Nubi, the mother of the travel content provider, was visibly thrilled by her daughter’s achievement and advised young people to remain focused and perseverant in pursuing their goals to achieve success.
During her visit, Nubi also stopped by the University of Lagos, where her father works as a lecturer, and was entertained by Lagos cultural troupes upon her arrival at the Seme border.
Nubi’s journey began in London, United Kingdom, on January 31st, 2024, and took her through 17 countries, including England, France, Spain, Morocco, and across the vast West Sahara Desert, all by road. She then traveled through Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Mali, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, and Benin before finally arriving in Lagos.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Idris Aregbe, the Special Adviser to Governor Sanwo-Olu on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, praised Nubi for her remarkable achievement despite encountering an accident during the solo trip.
He reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration to support youths with creative ideas to enhance the tourism sector.
