The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has refuted claims of reducing the pump prices for petrol and diesel.
In a statement, the spokesperson for NNPCL, Olufemi Soneye, dismissed these claims as false and urged Nigerians to ignore them.

Posts were circulating on social media platforms on Tuesday and Wednesday alleging that NNPCL had lowered the pump price of petrol to below N600 and diesel to below N900.
In response, the company clarified: “The NNPC Limited wishes to clarify rumors suggesting a price adjustment for Premium Motor Spirit and Automotive Gas Oil at its retail stations nationwide. The company asserts that these reports are false and urges Nigerians to disregard them entirely.”
NNPC reiterated its commitment to maintaining the current sufficiency in petroleum products supply across all its retail stations in the country.
The pump price of petrol surged after the removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Tinubu on May 29, 2023, rising to over N600 from about N200 during the Muhammadu Buhari administration.
