The House of Representatives has initiated the process of immortalizing the former speaker, the late Ghali Na’Abba, by proposing to name the National Assembly Service Commission building after him.
The motion, titled “Need to immortalize former Speaker, Late Ghali Na’Abba by naming the National Assembly Service Commission building after him,” was brought to the floor of the House by Hon. Aliyu Madaki (NNPP, Kano).

Madaki highlighted Na’Abba’s political career, noting his role as an Executive Committee Member of the ABU Chapter of the Revolutionary Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) during his student days at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
He emphasized Ghali’s contributions as an influential Speaker of the House of Representatives between 1999 and 2003, praising his courageous and dynamic approach to legislative independence.
The motion was adopted by the House and referred to the Senate for concurrence. The proposed naming of the National Assembly Service Commission building after Ghali is seen as a tribute to his legacy and contributions to the legislative independence of the House during his tenure as Speaker.
