In a statement issued by Abdulazeez Abdullahi, Head of Corporate Communication at Kaduna Electric, on Tuesday, the company emphasized that the union’s demand for payment of outstanding pension arrears, cited as the reason for the strike, pertains to debts accumulated under two previous managements of the DisCos. The statement questioned why the union did not prioritize these payments earlier.

The statement further highlighted the Administrator’s commitment, since assuming office in January, to collaborate with the unions to enhance Kaduna Electric’s performance. It expressed bewilderment over NUEE’s choice of industrial action instead of engaging in discussions to address any perceived grievances.

The Management reiterated its unwavering commitment to employee welfare, citing instances of salary increments and a commitment to pay salaries on time.

The strike was criticized for serving the interests of unclear motives, and customers were urged to disregard it and continue their dealings with the company without hindrance.
