The initiative, named “Love is Safe,” aimed to promote safe love practices and healthier relationships. The strategy included emphasizing safe sex practices such as the use of condoms, regular check-ups for sexually transmitted infections, and open communication about boundaries and consent with partners.

The Valentine’s season provided an opportune moment to raise awareness, emphasizing the importance of taking care of one’s health while celebrating love.

The “Love is Safe” movement advocates for healthier relationships by encouraging abstinence, faithfulness, or the use of condoms and regular HIV/AIDS testing and counseling.

The campaign included an Instagram challenge where couples shared photos expressing their commitment to safe love practices. The winner, Omomii82, earned an all-expense-paid dinner with her partner courtesy of the NiBUCAA “Love is Safe” campaign.

NiBUCAA, representing 30 businesses in Nigeria, is committed to fighting the HIV and AIDS pandemic in collaboration with the private sector workforce.

Participating businesses include Access Corporation, the Dangote Group (represented by The Aliko Dangote Foundation), Julius Berger Nigeria Limited, DMG Events, and the Shell Companies in Nigeria, among others. The campaign addresses the palpable fear among young people regarding HIV testing and aims to reduce stigma through sensitization efforts.
