A socio-political group representing young professionals and elites from Benue State’s Zone A Senatorial District, known as the Zone A Voters League (ZAVL), has decided to initiate the recall process of Senator Emmanuel Udende from the 10th Senate.
To carry out this decision, a consultative committee, consisting of members from the seven local government areas within Zone A Senatorial District, has been assigned the task of commencing consultations on the recall process due to Senator Udende’s alleged involvement in the security situation in the Sankera area of Benue State.

The group, as outlined in a communique signed by Pastor Saater Akaa and six others, has determined to submit a petition to the National Security Adviser (NSA), urging an investigation into Senator Udende’s level of involvement, which may include financial sponsorship and the acquisition of illegal arms.
Citing concerns about productivity, the group argues that having Udende as a Senator is untenable when there are highly qualified individuals with integrity and a commendable track record to represent the people of Zone A.
Additionally, the group points to Senator Udende’s alleged failure to account for the ₦200,000,000 palliative intended for distribution to constituents as another reason for their planned action.
ZAVL has formally notified Senator Udende that the inauguration of his recall committee is scheduled for March 15, 2024, in Katsina Ala, Benue State.
The consultative committee has been tasked with collaborating with Local Government Coordinators from the seven Local Government Areas to facilitate the mobilization for the recall process.
The group also strongly condemned Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio’s stance on the security challenges in Benue State, demanding a retraction of his remarks and an apology to the Governor and people of Benue State.
The group criticized Akpabio’s comments as unbecoming of a leader and expressed dissatisfaction with insinuations about Governor Hyacinth Alia’s commitment to the state’s security, deeming them malicious.
