Microsoft’s founder, Bill Gates, highlighted the need for African countries to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) to address shortages of teachers and doctors on the continent.
Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Gates mentioned that he is already funding pilot studies in Africa to develop AI tutors and AI doctors. He emphasized the commitment to minimizing the traditional 20-year technology adoption gap between rich and developing countries with AI.

While acknowledging AI’s potential for positive impact, Gates also highlighted concerns about the technology being used negatively. He mentioned the need to ensure that the best AI for cyber defense is in the hands of “good guys” to counter potential cyber attacks and other security threats.
