He said, “First, take a moment to think. The government needs to understand what changes need to be made and in what order. They should have a plan with clear goals and strategies.

“Second, review the 2024 budget in line with the new plan. The current budget doesn’t address the problems in the Nigerian economy or the high cost of living. It won’t create prosperity or help young people find jobs.

“Third, review the Social Investment Programme (SIP) to help vulnerable families affected by the policies. The SIP should include more than just cash transfers and focus on supporting small businesses in all sectors.

“Fourth, be careful with new taxes. Adding more taxes won’t solve our problems. Instead, focus on spending wisely, improving revenue use, and reducing government costs.

“Fifth, clarify the fuel subsidy situation and its impact on the economy. There are concerns about fuel shortages and rising prices. We need to know how much fuel is being imported and at what cost.

“Sixth, improve security. The current security setup isn’t working. Insecurity affects farming and food production, especially in the north.

“I’ve always supported reforms, but they need to be done right. Tinubu needs to change course if he wants to help our country.” Atiku also explained why Tinubu’s first year in office hasn’t been successful. He said Tinubu’s policies haven’t helped the economy and have made things worse for Nigerians.
