There are three categories of scholarships
MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (MTN STS)
Since 2010, this scholarship has been for eligible 300-level students studying Science & Technology-related courses in Nigerian Public Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education.
Each year, 300 students receive scholarships, continuing until they graduate if they meet the grade requirements. Starting in 2024, the annual award amount will increase from N200,000 to N300,000.
MTN Scholarships for Blind Students (MTN SBS)
Since 2012, this scholarship has supported eligible 200 and 300-level blind students studying any course in Nigerian Public Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education. From 2024, the number of recipients will increase from 60 to 100, and the annual award amount will rise from N200,000 to N300,000, continuing until graduation if grade requirements are met.
Top 10 UTME Scholarship
Since 2020, the top 10 scoring candidates in the UTME, as announced by JAMB, automatically qualify for this scholarship. It supports them from their 100 level through to graduation, provided they meet grade requirements. From 2024, the annual award amount will increase from N200,000 to N300,000. This scholarship is given regardless of the student’s preferred course of study or institution, whether public or private.
Eligibility Requirements
MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS) and MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS):
– Open to Nigerian students in Public Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education.
– From 2024, the number of blind student scholarships will increase from 60 to 100.
– The annual award amount will rise from N200,000 to N300,000 and continue until graduation if grade requirements are met.
Course of Study
– MTN STS: Open to 300-level students studying Science & Technology-related courses.
– MTN SBS: Open to 200 & 300-level blind students studying any course.
Level of Study
-MTN STS
– For students who have completed their second semester 200 level exams and are moving to 300 level, and current 300 level students.

MTN SBS
– For 200 & 300 level blind students. For blind students studying Law, which is a 5-year course, only 300 level students can apply.
Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA)
MTN STS:
– STEM students in Public Universities and Colleges of Education must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0/4 or 3.5/5 (second class upper credit).
– STEM students in Public Polytechnics must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 (upper credit) from the OND program and must have secured admission into the HND program.
– Direct Entry level STEM students must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 (upper credit) from the OND program and must have secured admission into the 300 level/3rd year in a Public University.
MTN SBS
– Blind students in Universities or Colleges of Education must have a minimum CGPA of 2.5.
– Blind students in Public Polytechnics must have a minimum CGPA of 2.0 from the OND program and must have secured admission into the HND program.
