Raphael Varane has announced his departure from Manchester United at the end of the season, as his contract expires after three years at Old Trafford.
The 31-year-old defender, formerly of France, joined United from Real Madrid in 2021 for around £34 million ($43 million) and has since made 93 appearances, scoring twice.

He was part of the team that secured the club’s first trophy in six years, winning the 2023 League Cup.

Manchester United has had a difficult season, currently sitting in eighth place in the Premier League with 14 defeats. Their chances of qualifying for European competitions look slim.
With two league matches remaining against Newcastle and Brighton, they will then face Manchester City in the FA Cup final on May 25th.
