Mohbad was signed under Marlian Records, owned by Afeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley.
Following Mohbad’s demise, Marley and a well-known Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, alias Sam Larry, were detained and questioned by the Lagos State Police Command to provide information about Mohbad’s death.
Primeboy was declared wanted by the state police command on October 4, 2023, and surrendered himself two days later.
On March 12, Primeboy, accompanied by Ayobami Fisayo, also known as Spending, visited the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti.
As part of the bail conditions granted to him during Mohbad’s case, Primeboy was required to visit the State CID every Tuesday to sign, to ensure he did not flee, according to Benjamin Hundeyin, the state Police Public Relations Officer.
Hundeyin explained that the Afro singer was summoned for questioning over alleged defamation of character and other allegations cited in a petition filed earlier by Wunmi.
However, Mohbad’s family disputed the petition.
In a statement on his Instagram account, Primeboy challenged Wunmi to come forward and disclose the truth about her late husband’s death.
He shared the petition on Instagram, stating, “I warned you to refrain from mentioning my name… You persisted… Now it’s time to reveal to the world the truth you claim to know about what led to your boyfriend’s (Mohbad) demise… Or face the consequences!”
The petition, filed by Alexime Law Associates on behalf of the singer, was addressed to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos.
In the petition, Primeboy accused Wunmi of using SCID operatives to intimidate and coerce him into making false confessions regarding causing grievous bodily harm to Ilerioluwa Aloba (deceased) aka Mohbad.
The petition further stated allegations against Inspector Muhammed of State CID Panti for official high-handedness, abuse of police powers, and an attempt to pervert justice, contrary to Section 92 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
