MUTA Education is delighted to announce the opening of applications for the 2024 MUTA Education Scholarship Program.
These merit-based awards are designed for full-time undergraduate students enrolled in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), medicine, and allied medical programs.

One deserving recipient will be chosen from each of the 14 Tiv-speaking Local Government Areas (LGA) in Benue State, and an additional recipient will be selected from each of Taraba and Nasarawa states.
Benefits
– The Committee aims to award up to 16 scholarships for the 2024 – 2025 academic year, with each recipient receiving N50,000.00.
– This amount will be directly transferred to the recipient’s account and can be utilized for tuition, fees, research, or other expenses directly associated with undergraduate studies.
Requirements
To qualify, the applicant must:
– Be enrolled in an undergraduate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), medicine, or any allied medical field.
– Maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 on a 5.0 scale (equivalent to a second class upper degree) or 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Note: Applicants failing to meet the specified CGPA requirement, even if they have the highest CGPA in their local government, will not be considered.
Evaluation Criteria
– Applications meeting eligibility criteria will undergo committee review, assessed based on CGPA (60%) and the quality and strength of the applicant’s personal statement (40%).
– Applicants found to have falsified information will be excluded from consideration.
– Completed application forms and all necessary supporting documents must be received by the Committee by 5 PM on Friday, April 15, 2024 [US EST (GMT-5)].
– Award winners will receive notification via email, while applicants not selected will not be contacted.
– Scholarship recipients will be announced on Radio Benue and posted online at www.muta.org by June 5, 2024. Applicants are encouraged to check online for their application status on this date.
– Awards will be presented at an award ceremony in July or August 2024, with the exact date announced once arrangements are finalized. Award recipients must consent to the use of their image for promotional purposes.
Application Documents
– In addition to the application form, applicants must submit a 2-page, double-spaced personal statement explaining why they deserve this award. Justification may include academic history, accomplishments, community service, career goals, and financial needs.
The Committee also requires the following items:
- A declaration that the candidate does not and shall not belong to or participate in any cult or related organizations activities on or off campus.
- Certificate of State or Local Government origin.
- A signed letter from the institution’s Academic Officer or the appropriate Head of Department certifying the candidate’s CGPA.
