The Nigeria LNG Prize for Science celebrates excellence in scientific breakthroughs and honors scientists from anywhere in the world who contribute solutions to a local or ‘Nigerian’ problem, as defined by the Advisory Board for the prize.
The prize is an annual award aimed at stimulating the advancement and application of science and technology.

It is expected that the pursuit of this prestigious science prize will improve science and technology in Nigeria, address issues relevant to the country’s development, and enhance living standards.
Entries are invited from scientists and innovators worldwide to propose scientific solutions to a prescribed problem, as captured by the theme for the year: “Innovations and Technologies for Reducing the Effects of Climate Change.”
Eligibility
– The award is open to scientists and innovators worldwide (Nigerians and non-Nigerians) involved in the application of science to provide innovation and technologies for reducing the effects of climate change.
– Members of the Advisory Board, Panel of Judges, or their relatives are not allowed to enter their works for the Science Prize during their year of service as well as the following year.
– Nigeria LNG Limited staff or their family members are ineligible to enter the prize during their years of service and five (5) years post-service.
– The work should be of outstanding merit, advancing the frontiers of knowledge, and providing an innovative technology for reducing the effects of climate change.
– The entry should be a completed scientific work, substantiated by either a proof of concept or tangible societal impact.
– Only one entry can be submitted by an individual or group.
– All materials supporting the entry must be submitted within the stipulated time.
Benefits
The winner(s) will receive an award of $100,000.

As the intention is to recognize the most relevant and effective solution to a prescribed problem that benefits Nigeria, collaborative works by two or more persons are also welcome. Only one entry per contestant(s) is permitted per competition year.
Entries not submitted by the stated deadline and according to stated conditions shall not be considered. The prize will be awarded for no other reason than excellence.
