Activist and 2023 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has disclosed his refusal to join the Labour Party, attributing it to ideological differences.
In a two-minute video posted on his X account on Wednesday, Sowore asserted that the Labour Party shares similarities in ideology with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Sowore mentioned that he believes the Labour Party, including its presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, would have implemented measures like fuel subsidy removal, similar to Nigeria President Bola Tinubu.
He expressed his disagreement with the party’s stance, stating that they lack a distinct ideology and often engage in arguments, particularly on social media.
The activist highlighted his reasons for declining the invitation to join the Labour Party, citing its lack of association with actual workers and likening it to a temporary arrangement where individuals are eventually forced out.
Sowore also criticized the party’s historical performance, referring to the former governor of Ondo State, Segun Mimiko, who was associated with the party.
Sowore emphasized his commitment to ideological differences and criticized the Labour Party for advocating revolution only after feeling cheated within the system.
He contrasted his position with that of other politicians, suggesting that they would have pursued similar actions if in power.
Concluding his remarks, Sowore expressed his reluctance to collaborate with those who oppose his ideology and, at times, his very existence.
