During a press conference, Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Akinyemi Ajigbotafe, unveiled the partnership, emphasizing the importance of empowering women within the state.

The training program, scheduled to kick off in the year’s first quarter, will employ a comprehensive approach, integrating online learning, partner-sponsored initiatives, and physical community-based training methods.

Ajigbotafe underscored that the training is open to all youth within the 20 Local Government and 37 Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State. The top 80 participants who complete the program will be awarded a seed capital of N200,000 each.

Recognizing the significance of collaboration, Ajigbotafe stressed that the government cannot work in isolation, particularly in the current economic climate. He highlighted the imperative to collaborate with the private sector to fulfill the ministry’s objectives of promoting wealth creation and employment for the youth.

The collaboration with the Women’s Enterprise Development Center of Pan–Atlantic University aligns with the state’s commitment to capacity building and human capital development.

The program, supported by the MasterCard Foundation, aims to empower Nigerian youths through entrepreneurship training, creative arts, and engagement in the digital and agro-based business sectors. With over 20 years of experience, the EDC is well-equipped to contribute to the success of this transformative initiative.
