Hubiquitous presents the TecHub Catalyst Program, a groundbreaking initiative under the EU-Africa project focused on fostering a sustainable and impactful ecosystem of technology hubs in Africa.


With a primary emphasis on IoT (Internet of Things) and related technologies, this program aims to elevate at least 10 African Tech Hubs to a higher echelon in the realm of IoT and emerging technologies.

Program Duration and Focus
Scheduled to run from February 2024 to June 2024, the TecHub Catalyst Program is designed to empower technology hubs by fostering technological innovation, skill development, and entrepreneurial growth within their local ecosystems. The spotlight of the program is on augmenting the IoT capabilities of participating hubs and catalyzing the development of sustainable value-added services.

Training and Empowerment
As part of the program, intensive IoT training will be provided to hub personnel through a “Train the Trainers” approach. This comprehensive training encompasses both virtual sessions and in-person training, with the latter conducted in Tanzania over one week. This blended approach ensures that participants gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies, preparing them to drive innovation and technological advancements in their respective hubs.

Enhance IoT Capacity: Undergo intensive “train the trainers” sessions to bolster proficiency in IoT technologies.
IoT Solution Box: Receive a comprehensive IoT hardware and software “Solution Box” to establish an IoT Lab.
Revenue Generation: Design innovative tech services to explore additional revenue streams.
Showcase Achievements: Participate in the HUBiquitous Innovation Week in Europe to showcase the hubs’ accomplishments.
Financial Support: Receive a contribution of up to €10,000 to support new service initiatives, covering expenses such as travel reimbursement, event organization (e.g., hackathon), and MVP costs.
Expectations from Participating Hubs
With the provided support, participating hubs are expected to deliver the following outcomes over 5 months:
Trainer Nomination: Nominate two experts at the hubs to serve as trainers.
IoT Lab Deployment: Establish the IoT Lab at hub premises using the provided Solution Boxes for training and MVP development.
Training Sessions: Engage in “train the trainers” sessions, including the in-person workshop in Tanzania.
Certification Course: Conduct a short IoT certification course.
MVP Acceleration: Expedite the development of two innovative MVPs based on the Solution Box.
Revenue Streams: Co-create new revenue streams through innovative services.
Innovation Week Participation: Take part in the Hubiquitous Innovation Week in Europe.
Activity Report: Prepare a comprehensive report detailing the hub’s activities.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the program, TecHubs should meet the following eligibility criteria:
Physical Presence: Have a physical address in an African country or be affiliated with a TecHub or entity based in any African country.
Legal Registration: Be legally registered with a valid certificate of registration within the respective African country.
Application Deadline: Monday, January 15, 2024.
