Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Nankai University Scholarships, applicants must:

  • Be non-Chinese citizens in good health and at least 18 years old (born before September 1, 2007).
  • Hold a senior high school diploma with strong academic performance.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Chinese, proven by an HSK Level 4 certificate with a minimum score of 180. (Specific program requirements are detailed in the document “2025 Undergraduate Programs of Nankai University for International Students.”)
  • Comply with the conditions outlined in Document No. 12 (2020) issued by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China.

Required Documents

Applicants must prepare and submit the following:

  1. Application Form.
  2. A valid passport information page (valid beyond September 1, 2026). If residing in mainland China, include a valid visa or residence permit.
  3. Highest degree certificate (notarized photocopy). For documents not in Chinese or English, provide notarized translations. Pending graduates must submit an official letter of anticipated graduation and later provide the diploma.
  4. Official high school transcripts or records of current academic achievements. (Notarized translations required if not in Chinese or English.)
  5. Personal statement written in Chinese or English.
  6. HSK Level 4 certificate with a score of at least 180.
  7. One recommendation letter in Chinese or English.
  8. Additional materials demonstrating academic or comprehensive achievements, such as certificates for sports, arts, specialties, published papers, or other university admission offers.
  9. Record of Physical Examination for Foreigners, completed in Chinese or English. Results must adhere to the provided form and be issued after November 2024.
  10. Proof of financial capability.
  11. Non-criminal record affirmation. (Additional documentation may be requested by the university if necessary.)

Application Process

To apply for the Nankai University Undergraduate Scholarships, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the program’s webpage using the provided application link.
  2. Create an account and complete the online application form through the Nankai International Students Application System.
  3. Upload all required documents and pay the 400 RMB application fee online.
  4. Submit the application between November 15, 2024, and May 20, 2025.

Application Review and Assessment

  • Applications will be reviewed for completeness and accuracy by Nankai University.
  • Successful candidates will be invited to the integrative assessment, held in March, April, and May 2025. Details regarding the assessment process will be shared in advance via email and the application system.
  • The top 20% of candidates in the assessment will be recommended for the Chinese Government Scholarship or awarded the “Study-at-NKU” President Scholarship.

Admission Decisions

  • Admission is based on a comprehensive evaluation of academic performance, language proficiency, submitted documents, and assessment results.
  • Applicants can check their admission status through the online system. Admission notices will be issued starting June 2025.
