Applications are now open for the Heidelberg Laureate Forum for Researchers 2025
Young researchers in mathematics and computer science from around the globe are invited to apply for one of 200 exclusive spots at the Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF), an annual networking event. The HLF offers selected participants a unique chance to engage with laureates who have won prestigious awards in these fields.

Programme Details
The 12th HLF will take place from September 14 to 19, 2025, with registration for young researchers on September 13. This dynamic event combines scientific presentations, social interactions, and outreach activities, fostering an atmosphere of intellectual exchange and inspiration. Key features include laureate lectures, discussions, and interactive program elements, all designed to promote unrestricted interaction among attendees.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should be students in mathematics or computer science (or closely related fields) at these levels:
- Undergraduate/Pre-Master: Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program without holding a Master’s degree.
- Graduate PhD: Currently working toward a PhD.
- Postdoc: Earned a PhD within the last 5 years (applicants in non-traditional postdoc roles, such as those in the private sector or Assistant Professors, are eligible). Applicants with a PhD older than 5 years do not qualify.
- Important: The academic status at the time of application submission will be recognized, even if it changes before the event.
Benefits
Travel Grant:
- Travel expenses are not automatically covered by the HLFF.
- Applicants should first seek funding from their current institution or national funding agency.
- If external funding is unavailable, applicants can apply for an HLFF travel grant by providing a rejection letter from their institution or agency.
- The travel grant covers travel and visa costs (meals not included).
- Hotel accommodation is provided from September 13 to 20, 2025, with each participant receiving a private room near the HLF venue.
- Meals: Breakfast at the hotel; lunches, dinners, and coffee breaks provided at the HLF venue. On departure day, only breakfast is provided.
Additional Details:
- Participants are responsible for any personal expenses like room service, phone calls, or mini-bar charges.
Selection Process
Applications submitted by the deadline are thoroughly reviewed by an international committee of experts chosen by award-granting institutions. The goal is to invite the most qualified candidates. 100 spots are available for researchers in mathematics and 100 for computer science. All applicants will be informed of their selection status by the end of April 2025.

- Review phase: Mid-February to mid-April 2025
- Notification of acceptance/rejection: End of April 2025
- Registration: Begins upon acceptance
- Travel grant applications: Available during the registration phase
