Applications are now open for the Austrian Government OeAD Ernst Mach Follow-up 2024 Grants For Developing Countries postdoctoral researchers and academics from non-European developing countries who have previously received a grant administered by OeAD-GmbH (formerly ÖAD) in Austria.

This program is aimed at those who are currently engaged in research or teaching at higher education institutions or universities in their home countries.

Program Objectives

Promote Scientific Growth: Support the development of scientific careers.
Enhance Scientific Cooperation: Foster collaboration between Austrian institutions and researchers in developing countries.
Build Sustainable Networks: Create a long-term network of academics with ties to Austria.

Benefits

Monthly Grant: Financial support for the duration of the stay.
Health and Accident Insurance: Coverage will be provided if necessary.
Accommodation: Assistance in securing accommodation.
Travel Subsidy: Scholarship holders will receive a subsidy to cover travel costs.

Eligibility Criteria

Previous OeAD Grant Recipients: Applicants must have received a grant administered by OeAD-GmbH in Austria.
Time Requirement: At least 5 years must have passed since the last scholarship-supported study or research stay in Austria.
Maximum Age: 50 years old.
- For the application deadline of February 1, 2023: Applicants must have been born on or after February 1, 1973.
- For the application deadline of November 1, 2023: Applicants must have been born on or after November 1, 1973.
Residency Requirement: Applicants must not have studied, conducted research, or worked academically in Austria within the six months before taking up the grant.
Application Frequency: Grants can only be applied for every 5 years.

Selection Process

Applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

Purpose of Stay: Clarity and relevance of the proposed research or academic work.
Choice of Institution: Justification for selecting the specific target institution in Austria.
Added Value: The potential impact of the stay on the applicant’s home country, particularly in terms of establishing or continuing institutional cooperation.
Previous Academic Activities: Evaluation of prior teaching and research experience.

Consent from Austrian Academic Partner: Written consent from the academic partner in Austria.
Passport Scan: A scanned copy of the passport page showing the name and photo.
Proof of Employment: A document verifying employment by the home institution.
Curriculum Vitae: A detailed CV outlining academic and professional achievements.
University Graduation Certificate: A scanned copy of the PhD or doctoral degree certificate.
