Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, applicants must:

• Nationality: Be a citizen of a country designated by MEXT.
• Academic Performance: Minimum CGPA of 2.30 (on a 3.00 scale).
• Recommendation: Be recommended by:
  • YNU,
  • Partner universities, or
  • Associated institutions.
• Language Proficiency: Provide English or Japanese language certification.
• Research Supervision: Obtain a Conditional Acceptance Form from a YNU academic advisor.

Required Documents

Prepare the following:

1. Application Form – Completed and signed.
2. Research Proposal – Detailing your research goals.
3. Academic Transcripts & Certificates – Verified copies.
4. Recommendation Letter – Addressed to the President of YNU.
5. Language Proficiency Proof – TOEFL, IELTS, or JLPT scores.
6. Passport Copy – Valid and clear.

Application Process

1. Check Eligibility: Confirm your GPA, nationality, and recommendation criteria.
2. Find a Faculty Advisor: Identify and contact a YNU professor whose research aligns with your interests.
3. Secure Conditional Acceptance: Request and obtain the Conditional Acceptance Form from the professor.
4. Online Application:
   • Submit your application and documents via the YNU portal during the application window:
     20 December 2024 – 7 January 2025.
5. Selection and Arrival:
   • Successful applicants will receive admission offers.
   • Arrive in Japan by September 2025 to begin studies.
