Represented by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Shettima underscored the media’s pivotal role as watchdogs, truth-seekers, and contributors to citizen empowerment. He acknowledged the media’s power to shape narratives, foster public discourse, and hold institutions accountable.

Vice President Kashim advocated for collaboration between the media and the government, urging transparency, open access to information, and accountability.

He commended President Tinubu’s commitment to a vibrant press and stressed the need for ethical journalism practices, fact-checking, and avoidance of sensationalism to combat misinformation.

The Vice President highlighted the federal government’s recent strides, including economic reforms, addressing security challenges, and infrastructure investments.

He cited the removal of fuel subsidies as a positive move, leading to increased federal allocations to states. Shettima also mentioned the Pulaku Initiative, a resettlement program aimed at addressing farmers-herders conflicts, and reiterated the government’s dedication to building a brighter future.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, echoed Shettima’s sentiments, assuring Nigerians that economic challenges would soon be overcome. He called for collective support in nation-building and affirmed the administration’s commitment to a better future under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Vice President Shettima’s speech emphasized the symbiotic relationship between the media and the government, recognizing the media’s role in shaping public discourse and promoting accountability.

He praised President Tinubu’s commitment to press freedom while urging responsible journalism practices for the benefit of a thriving democracy.
