The bill aims to bring back Nigeria’s old anthem from independence in 1960, “Nigeria, We Hail Thee.”

This anthem was replaced by the military in 1978. Now, 46 years later, President Bola has signed the National Anthem Bill, reinstating the old anthem instead of the current one, “Arise, O Compatriots.”

During his visit to the green chamber for the official launch of the new anthem, the President encouraged Nigerians to unite, collaborate, and work together to build the nation, emphasizing that there is no other choice since this is our country.

The new national anthem was sung at 12:48 PM.
