The Public Diplomacy Section at the United States Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria, invites organizations to apply for a grant aimed at promoting U.S. higher education opportunities for high-achieving, low-income Nigerian students at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

This grant focuses on supporting students by providing financial assistance for the application process and enhancing the activities of Education Advising Centers.

Key Objectives

The selected organization will:

  1. Collaborate with Education Specialists in Abuja and Lagos to support the 2025-26 Education Advising Program in Nigeria, including the EducationUSA Opportunity Funds Program.
  2. Provide support to Standard Advising Centers in Calabar, Jos, Ibadan, and Kano.

Benefits

The grant will assist 40 high-achieving, low-income Nigerian students who are likely to receive full financial aid from U.S. colleges and universities but lack resources for:

  • Standardized test fees
  • Application fees
  • Airfare
  • Visa fees
  • SEVIS fees
  • Settling-in expenses

The implementing partner will work closely with the EducationUSA network in Abuja and Lagos to ensure successful delivery of these benefits, under the guidance of the Country Education Specialist.

Eligibility Requirements

Organizations must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a not-for-profit organization, including think tanks and civil society/non-governmental organizations.
  • Be a public or private educational institution.
  • Be a public international organization or governmental institution.

Additional Requirements:

  • Organizations must possess a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) and valid registration in SAM.gov.
  • Each organization may submit only one proposal. Multiple submissions will render all proposals from the organization ineligible.
