The University of Hamburg Merit Scholarship provides financial support of up to €14,400 per year for outstanding international students pursuing Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD degrees.

Scholarship Benefits
The University of Hamburg Merit Scholarship provides:
✔ Maximum Monthly Funding – €930 per month for undergraduate & master’s students.
✔ Doctoral Research Funding – Up to €1,200 per month.
✔ Scholarship Duration – 12 months (2 semesters).
✔ Renewal Option – Students can reapply for funding.
✔ Extended Funding Period – In exceptional cases, funding can last up to 3 years.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the University of Hamburg Merit Scholarship, applicants must:
✅ Be an International Student – Non-German citizens only.
✅ Be Enrolled at University of Hamburg –
- Bachelor’s & Master’s Students: Must have completed at least 2 semesters.
- Master’s (2-year programs) & PhD Students: Can apply after 1 completed semester.
✅ Not Be Eligible for German Federal Student Loans (BAföG) – Applicants must not qualify for Germany’s student loan scheme.
Required Documents
- To apply for the University of Hamburg Merit Scholarship, candidates must submit:
- Completed Online Application Form – Available on the University of Hamburg’s scholarship portal.
- Letter of Motivation – Explaining why you need the scholarship and your academic goals.
- Academic Transcripts – Official grades from previous semesters.
- Enrollment Certificate – Proof of current enrollment at the University of Hamburg.
- CV/Resume – Highlighting academic achievements and extracurricular activities.
- Proof of Financial Need (if applicable) – Not required, but may strengthen your application.
- Recommendation Letter – From a university professor or research supervisor.

- After submission, you will receive a confirmation email.
- Only completed applications will be considered.
