 Why Study in Romania?

Romania, a beautiful Eastern European nation, has steadily become a top destination for international students. Here’s why studying in Romania could be the perfect decision for your academic and career future:

1.  A Gateway to Europe

Romania is a member of the European Union and offers students a cultural and academic bridge to Western and Eastern Europe. The Romanian passport holds moderate strength, offering visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to many countries across the globe. For students considering long-term plans in Europe, Romania is a practical and strategic option.

2.  Language Accessibility

While the official language is Romanian—a Romance language related to Italian, Spanish, and French—many universities offer English-taught programs, especially in fields like engineering, medicine, business, and technology.

Don’t know Romanian? No worries! Scholarship recipients who are not proficient in Romanian are eligible to enroll in a fully funded Romanian language preparatory course. Learning the local language also enhances daily communication and cultural integration.

3.  Work Opportunities During and After Studies

International students in Romania are allowed to work part-time during their academic years and full-time during holidays.

Even better, after completing your degree, you can apply for a temporary residence permit to continue living and working in Romania. This makes Romania a great launchpad for your European career ambitions.

4. World-Class Educational Infrastructure

Romanian universities are known for their quality education and modern infrastructure. Students benefit from:

  • Advanced research labs
  • Comprehensive libraries
  • Well-equipped classrooms
  • Affordable yet quality student housing

Programs span across various disciplines such as medicine, science, engineering, economics, social sciences, arts, and humanities.

5.  Safety and Security

Romania is a relatively safe country for international students. It enjoys low crime rates compared to other parts of Europe. University campuses often have dedicated security services and support systems in place to assist international students in case of emergencies.

6. Pathway to Romanian Citizenship

Students who choose to stay long-term in Romania can apply for Romanian citizenship. Typically, a continuous legal residence of five years, fluency in Romanian, and a clean criminal record are required to be eligible. This is a unique long-term benefit for those looking to make Europe their permanent home.
