Ooni of Ile-Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has publicly disavowed an individual who is claiming to be his son in a viral video circulating on various online platforms.
A statement from Ile Oodua, provided to journalists by the director of Media and Public Affairs at the Ooni’s Palace, Otunba Moses Olafare, strongly denounced the claim as an act of impersonation.

“It is important to clarify that the Ooni of Ife, being a responsible father and custodian of tradition, is familiar with and acknowledges all his children, and takes full responsibility for them,” the statement reads.
“All of Ooni’s children are well-known to the palace and the people of Ile-Ife. The eldest child of the Ooni is Princess Adeola Ogunwusi, who holds a Master’s Degree and resides in Canada.
This is followed by Princess Adewamiwa Ogunwusi, who recently moved to Dublin, Ireland, to further her education after completing secondary school in Nigeria three years ago.
“Princess Adesewa is doing well, Prince Tadenikawo Ogunwusi is known to be with his mother and in good health, while the newborn twins, Prince Adebisi Kehinde, and Princess Taiwo Adeayo, are scheduled to formally enter the palace in accordance with the customs and traditions of the Ife Palace.
“We hereby state unequivocally that this self-proclaimed prince is unknown to the palace and the people of Ile-Ife. He is not a child of Ogunwusi as fraudulently claimed, nor is he related in any way to the Ogunwusi royal family or the Giesi Royal Compound of Ile-Ife.”
