About APTUS
APTUS is a leading energy apprenticeship programme that champions diversity and inclusion. No prior experience is required, and applicants from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. This approach ensures a diverse and skilled workforce, essential for the future resilience of the energy industry.
Programme Benefits
The APTUS Apprenticeship Programme offers a unique opportunity to:
- Earn while you learn, gaining hands-on experience alongside industry experts.
- Obtain globally recognized qualifications that position you for a successful career.
College Training (21 Months):
Participants will attend an industry-approved college to achieve the following qualifications:
- Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) Level 2 (Performing Engineering Operations).
- National Certificate (multi-discipline).
- Higher National Certificate (HNC) in their chosen discipline.
- OPITO Global Standards – Oil and Gas Level 2.
On-the-Job Training (2 Years):
After college, apprentices will work with sponsoring energy companies to receive expert mentoring, develop industry-specific skills, and gain:
- SVQ Level 3 in their selected discipline.

Eligibility Requirements
To apply for the APTUS Apprenticeship Programme, candidates must:
- Have a valid National Identity Number (NIN). Applicants will be required to verify their NIN before proceeding (NIMC verification fees apply).
- Note: Multiple applications will result in automatic disqualification.
- Be aged 16–35 years by May of the application year.
- Hold Ordinary Level (O’ Level) qualifications such as WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or NBAIS (internal or external) with a credit grade (C) in the following subjects:
- Mathematics
- English
- Physics
- Chemistry
- One additional subject.
Additional Qualifications Accepted:
Applicants with higher qualifications in Engineering, Science, or related fields are also encouraged to apply, including:
- Diploma (OND or equivalent).
- Higher National Diploma (HND, NCE, or equivalent).
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc., B.Eng., or equivalent).
- Postgraduate Degrees (PGD, M.Sc., Ph.D., or equivalent).
