Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), expressed contentment with both the quality and pace of the ongoing road construction in Kuje, Kuje Area Council of the territory.
Following his inspection of the road projects in Abuja, Wike explained that the five-kilometer dual carriageway from Garage Junction to LEA Secretariat had been nominated by the council’s chairman and local stakeholders in the area.

The road projects encompass a six-lane dual carriageway from the Airport Expressway to Kuje Junction and a five-kilometer dual carriageway from Garage Junction to the LEA Secretariat in Kuje.
The minister disclosed that the contractor had completed earthwork covering 2.5 kilometers, with drainage works set to follow soon. Wike expressed satisfaction with the progress, stating that the contractor had committed to completing the road before the end of the year.
Regarding the six-lane dual carriageway from Airport Expressway to Kuje Junction, which Arab Contractors are handling, Wike noted the commendable progress and expressed confidence in meeting the completion target.
He also mentioned that the road linking the Airport Expressway to the Town would span 11 kilometers, including crossings over two rivers and the Outer Southern Expressway connecting the city center with the Gwagwalada Expressway.
However, one of the main challenges affecting the road construction is the presence of five towers belonging to the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) along the road corridor.
Shehu Ahmad, the Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), highlighted this constraint and emphasized the need to relocate the towers to facilitate uninterrupted progress.
He assured that TCN had been contacted and agreed to relocate the towers, underscoring that work in the affected areas could only resume once the obstructions were removed.
