The Lagos State Nigerian Police Command has initiated an investigation into the death of a man discovered unconscious in the Victoria Garden City area of the state.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Command’s Spokesperson, confirmed this through his official handle on Saturday in response to a post by a user @dejilambo, stating that the 42-year-old man, Gihan Mbelu, was found unconscious in his C300 4Matic car and subsequently passed away.

According to the post, “Mbelu was discovered unconscious around 10:10 am on Friday, after concerned individuals inspected his vehicle, which had been running for hours at a spot in VGC, Ajah area of the state.”

Upon close observation of the vehicle, Mbelu was found inside. While some speculated that he might be asleep, others attempted to wake him up but were unsuccessful.

He was later pronounced dead by a doctor at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, and his body has been deposited at the mortuary.

The case has been reported to the police for investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mbelu’s death.
