Applications are now open for the fully funded Mastercard Foundation Innovation and Technology Scholarship 2025 in partnership with Arizona University for international students


The Mastercard Foundation, in partnership with Arizona State University (ASU), is offering fully funded graduate scholarships to train 160 young African professionals at the Master’s level from 2025 to 2030. This program provides 40 scholarships for the 2025/2026 academic year, covering full tuition, accommodation, living expenses, travel, and medical costs.

Scholars will pursue an ASU Online degree while receiving in-person support at Kepler College in Rwanda. The program includes mentorship, leadership development, and a two-month summer experience in the U.S. at Arizona State University.
This is an incredible opportunity for talented African students to earn a Master’s degree at ASU while developing leadership skills to drive social and economic change in their communities.
Scholarship Benefits
The Mastercard Foundation-ASU Scholarship provides comprehensive financial and academic support, including:
- Full Tuition Fees – Paid directly to Arizona State University (ASU).
- Living Stipend – Covers food and personal expenses.
- Housing & Accommodation – Fully funded stay in Kigali, Rwanda.
- Travel Costs – Includes:
- Round-trip airfare to and from Kigali, Rwanda.
- Visa application fees.
- Medical Expenses – Full healthcare coverage.
- Books & Educational Materials – All required study resources included.
- Scholarship Programming – Includes:

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Mastercard Foundation-ASU Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a Citizen of an African Country – Open to students from any African nation.
- Hold an Undergraduate Degree – Must have a Bachelor’s degree conferred by July 2025.
- Be Between 18-33 Years Old – Applicants must be aged 18-33 by the application deadline.
- Demonstrate Academic Excellence – A strong academic record is required.
- Meet ASU Admission Requirements – Includes English proficiency (TOEFL, IELTS, or equivalent).
- Show Leadership & Community Engagement – Must have a history of volunteering, advocacy, or leadership roles.
- Have Financial Need – Applicants should not have personal resources to fund a Master’s degree.
- Commit to Living in Kigali, Rwanda – Scholars must reside in Kigali for the full program duration.
- Not Have a Previous Master’s Degree – Applicants must not have started or completed a graduate degree before August 2025.
Guidelines for Application
Step 1: Prepare Required Documents
Applicants must gather and submit the following:
📌 CV/Resume – Highlighting academic achievements and leadership experience.
📌 Letter of Recommendation – From an academic or professional referee.
📌 Transcripts – Official academic records.
📌 English Proficiency Test (if required) – TOEFL, IELTS, or equivalent.

✔ Complete the form and attach the required documents (CV, transcripts, recommendation letter).

Important Note: All applicants must apply for the scholarship first. Successful candidates will then be assisted in applying to ASU. If possible, online submission is highly recommended.
