How to Check Your Eligibility
If your country is on the Full-Support list, you have a chance to study in Thailand with zero out-of-pocket costs for travel and tuition. If you are on the Partial-Support list, ensure you have a plan to cover your flight to Thailand before beginning the application process.
Remember, the TIPP 2026 deadline for all courses is 23 February 2026. You must be nominated by your government’s focal point to be eligible for either category.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. What is the main difference between “Full-Support” and “Partial-Support”? The biggest difference is the flight. Full-Support covers your round-trip international airfare and Thai visa fees. Partial-Support covers your tuition and living costs in Thailand, but you (or your employer) must pay for your own flights and visa.
2. My country is not on either list. Can I still apply? Currently, only candidates from the listed partner countries and territories are eligible for the TIPP 2026 scholarship. Thailand focuses its development cooperation on these specific partners.
3. If I am from a Partial-Support country, can I ask for airfare later? No. The support level is fixed based on the agreement between Thailand and your home country. You must secure your own travel funding if you are in the Partial-Support category.
4. Does the “Full-Support” airfare cover my travel within my own country? No. The scholarship only covers the international flight from your capital/major airport to Thailand. You are responsible for any domestic travel costs (like buses or local flights) within your own country.
5. Are “Non-self-governing territories” like Tokelau or Saint Helena really eligible? Yes, they are officially included in the 2026 list. Applicants from these territories should follow the same nomination process as other partner countries.
6. Do I apply directly to the Thai university or to my government? You must apply through your country’s “National Focal Point” (usually the Ministry of Foreign Affairs). They must officially nominate you to the Thai government (TICA). Direct applications to universities are not accepted for this scholarship.
7. Can I bring my family if I win a Full-Support scholarship? The scholarship is only for the individual student. It does not provide airfare, extra allowance, or visa support for family members or dependents.
8. What happens if I am from a Full-Support country but I want to book my own flight? You should wait for TICA to provide your ticket. The scholarship usually has specific rules for booking through their authorized travel agents. You might not be reimbursed if you buy your own ticket without permission.
9. Why are some countries in the same region treated differently (Full vs. Partial)? These categories are decided by the Thai government based on existing diplomatic agreements, development levels, and the specific focus of the TIPP program for that year.
