In response to complaints about high ticket fares for international Airlines, major foreign airlines have complied with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) directive to open lower inventory tickets that were previously blocked.
Nigerians had been paying higher fares for international flights as only higher inventory tickets were made available, blocking lower inventory tickets for several months.

The NCAA expressed displeasure at this discriminatory practice and held a three-day meeting with foreign airlines operating in Nigeria.
Representatives from the NCAA, Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), and the National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies (NANTA) attended the meeting, along with a presentation from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) on behalf of the foreign airlines.
During the meeting, chaired by Mr. Horatius Egua, the director of Special Duties at NCAA, the airlines were directed to reduce ticket costs and unblock all lower inventory tickets for Nigerian travelers within two days.
The NCAA considered the fares charged in Nigeria as discriminatory compared to regional flights operated by the same airlines.
As a result of the NCAA directive, many international airlines, including Lufthansa, KLM, Egypt Air, Ethiopian Airlines, British Airways, Royal Air Mar, RwandAir, and Turkish Airlines, have unblocked lower inventory tickets.
