INEC sought the support of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to swiftly deliver materials to three locations in the North East, South East, and South West geopolitical zones of the country due to the size and distance of some constituencies.

INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, visited the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, at the Nigerian Air Force Headquarters in Abuja to discuss the logistics.

Yakubu emphasized that the evacuation of materials from the focal airports to the states where the elections will be held will be handled by the commission and the CBN.

He assured that the movement of all materials to various local government areas will be done transparently with the participation of stakeholders, including political party agents, candidates, observers, and the media.

In response, the Chief of the Air Staff, Abubakar, assured INEC of the Nigerian Air Force’s readiness to support the commission. However, he highlighted outstanding bills from INEC, urging their settlement for better cooperation.

Abubakar also emphasized the importance of receiving information earlier to plan and ensure timely delivery of election materials.
