This scholarship supports an outstanding African student to pursue an MSc in African Studies at the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies, University of Oxford.

Through a renewed four-year partnership between FirstRand and the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies, the scholarship provides an exceptional opportunity to study at one of the world’s leading universities.
Benefits
The scholarship offers full funding for one African student per year to study for an MSc in African Studies at the University of Oxford. The successful applicant will reside at Wadham College.
Eligibility and Application Requirements
- Applications must be submitted online only.
- Candidates must apply for and gain acceptance into the MSc in African Studies program at the University of Oxford.
- FirstRand will manage the selection process alongside the FirstRand International Postgraduate Scholarship Programme.
Applicants will be evaluated based on:
- Academic excellence
- Leadership ability
- Community involvement
- Their potential to become a “destiny changer” and contribute meaningfully to Africa upon their return.
