The Federal Government has officially rolled out the Startup Support and Engagement Portal,
a pivotal initiative aligned with the implementation of the Nigeria Startup Act. Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, proudly shared this momentous news, underscoring the portal’s significance in identifying and aggregating Nigerian start ups, venture capital firms, hubs, and innovation centers.

This newly launched portal transcends being just a digital space; it acts as a gateway for start ups to establish connections and access crucial support. One of its notable features is the initiation of start up consultative forums, fostering substantial discussions and collaboration. These forums will play a key role in electing representatives to the National Council for Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
The establishment of these consultative forums is particularly noteworthy as they serve as a mechanism for bringing together diverse stakeholders in the startup ecosystem. By enabling open conversations and collaboration, the forums aim to create a unified front among startups, venture capital firms, and innovation hubs. This collaborative effort is crucial for driving innovation, fostering entrepreneurship, and ensuring the sustainable growth of the digital economy in Nigeria.
Dr. Bosun Tijani extends a cordial invitation to all Nigerians, venture capital firms, hubs, and innovation centers to actively participate in the groundbreaking initiative by registering on the Portal. This inclusive approach aims to bring together diverse players in the entrepreneurial landscape, fostering collaboration and synergy.
Follow these steps to register your startup:
- Go to http://startup.gov.ng
- Scroll down to find options for Startups, Angel Investors, Venture Capitalists, or Accelerators, Innovation Hubs & Incubators.
- Choose “Startups.”
- Provide the following information:
- RC Number (Unique CAC ID)
- Company Name
- Year of Incorporation
- Industry Type
- Media Information
- Startup Description
- Company Email
- Company Address
- Company Website
- Founder’s Full Name
- First Name + Last Name
- Founder’s Email Address
- Founder’s Phone Number
- Founder’s Means of Identification (BVN or NIN)
- After entering these details, click “Submit.”
Enrollment Criteria:
- Registered as a limited liability company under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA).
- Operational for less than 10 years since incorporation.
- Objectives focused on innovating, developing, producing, improving, or commercializing digital technology products or processes.
- Holder or repository of digital technology products or processes, or owner/author of registered software.
- At least one-third of local shareholding held by Nigerian founder(s) in the startup.
- Compliance with conditions specified in the Act for sole proprietorships or partnerships.
- Tech-enabled business using existing tools, platforms, libraries, and frameworks for enhanced efficiency or effectiveness.
